Deprecated Feature

All dedicated servers created after January 2019 will use mirrored boot drives instead of ShadowDrive.

The ShadowDrive provides an identical on-chassis hard drive that is devoted to backing up your dedicated server twice a day (and more often for mail files). Each backup replaces the previous one, saving the most recent changes so your backups are always up-to-date. This physical piece of hardware allows for fast swaps, restores, and upgrades.

Like its name, the ShadowDrive works invisibly in the background until you need its services.

While you do not need a ShadowDrive if you have a special dedicated disk drive configuration or an assortment of disk drives installed on your dedicated server, the ShadowDrive comes standard with many of the dedicated hosting packages configurations.
